Shopify's built-in features don't cover everything. We build custom Shopify apps — private apps that automate your store workflows, public apps ready for the App Store, custom Liquid theme sections, and webhook-driven integrations with any third-party platform.
A private Shopify app is a backend application built specifically for your store using Shopify's Admin API, REST API, or GraphQL API. Private apps are not listed on the App Store — they are authentication tokens tied to a single store, which makes them simpler to build and deploy. Use cases include syncing Shopify orders to your ERP or warehouse, building a custom admin dashboard, auto-tagging customers based on purchase behavior, automating discount code generation, or integrating with accounting software like QuickBooks or Xero.
Shopify's Online Store 2.0 (OS 2.0) uses Liquid — a Ruby-based templating language — to render your storefront. Every product page, collection, cart, and checkout screen is powered by Liquid templates. We customize themes directly in Liquid to add features your chosen theme doesn't include out of the box: custom product badges, countdown timers, size guides, tabbed product descriptions, metafield-powered dynamic content, custom collection filtering, and more. We also build full custom themes from scratch if you need a completely unique storefront design.
A public Shopify app is a SaaS product listed on the Shopify App Store that any merchant can install. Building a public app requires: OAuth 2.0 for multi-store authentication, an embedded admin interface using Shopify's App Bridge and Polaris UI library, a Node.js or Ruby backend to handle API requests, a subscription billing setup via Shopify Billing API, and compliance with Shopify's Partner Program guidelines. We build complete public app products — from database architecture and backend API to the embedded Shopify admin UI and App Store listing assets.
Shopify webhooks fire real-time events when things happen in your store — new orders, payment confirmations, inventory updates, customer sign-ups. We build webhook listeners that trigger actions in your other systems: sending order data to a 3PL, updating a CRM, triggering email automations, pushing inventory changes to a marketplace, or syncing with your own database. We also build Shopify Flow integrations and custom API bridges between Shopify and any platform your business already uses.
How We Build Your Shopify App
We review your store, understand the workflow gaps, and scope exactly what needs to be built.
We map your requirements to Shopify's API surface — Admin, Storefront, Billing, or Webhooks.
We build backend logic, Liquid templates, and any admin UI panels needed for your workflow.
We test against a development store with real API calls before deploying to your live store.
We deploy to production, walk you through the functionality, and document how it works.
